Senior Engineer, Rotor & Bearing Validation

Role Summary:

You will be responsible for the design and development of rotor and bearing testing, validation plans and methods. You will contribute to complex research, test and validation programs for mitigating and understanding failure modes of rotors. You will be involved with designing and updating test rigs that can strategically fit the business needs. From technology development to testing for certification, you will be leading activities around rotor validation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • You will work with clients to develop test plans to support research on the improvement of Rotor validation testing as well as the product development cycle. Support them with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design related causes (nonconformities);
  • Take leading role in selected Rotor and Bearing Validation projects and be an active member in implementation and design and development projects;
  • Development of methods, equipment, documentation and systems;
  • Plan, execute, monitor and report test of pitch bearing and rotor tests;
  • Support in identification and Qualification of suppliers of all aspects related to pitch bearing and rotor test;
  • Scouting for new test methods and Intelligence of competitors/supplier’s test set-up and performance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering;
  • 10 years’ experience in design and/or validation of mechanical systems (related to wind turbines);
  • Good understanding of Hub analysis and understanding of design inputs and outputs;
  • Very good understanding of Pitch Bearings, and proven experience in analysis and testing validation of bearings;
  • Good understanding of Pitch Systems (Mechanical and Electrical);
  • Good understanding of Blades;
  • Good understanding of Main Shaft interfaces and design;
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and project management skills;
  • Willingness to travel.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Working knowledge of Unigraphics NX 3D-CAD or other 3D design platforms;
  • Deep understanding of Pitch Bearings;
  • Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes;
  • Significant experience in wind turbine design/validation and its components;
  • Engineering experience in medium-big size industrial companies.
